“Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice” REVIEW

The Juice is Loose.

Nearly four decades after the original came out, Beetlejuice is back terrorizing three generations of Deets. When the Deets come home to bury Lydia’s father Charles, she instantly begins to see Beetlejuice nearly everywhere she goes. That combined with dealing with her stepmother, Delia and her estranged daughter, Astrid who doesn’t want to have anything to do with her. All in all, it’s an adventure like no other, especially when her daughter gets tricked into giving up her soul for that of a boy. Now it’s time for Lydia to call on someone whom she never expected to before.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice brings back Michael Keaton as the ghost with the most as well as Winona Ryder as Lydia and Catherine O’Hara as Delia. Joining the cast is Scream 6’s Jenna Ortega who fits in quite well as she truly matches that of her estranged mother, though she tries to deny it, she soon realizes they have more in common then she wants to admit. Additionally William Defoe and Monica Bellucci round out the cast of newbies in what is sure to be a smash continuation of the old.

Ultimately, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice brings old and new to the story with subtle nods to the orginal as well as iconic songs that will have everyone in the audience tapping their toes to the beat.

The sequel came out in theaters September 5 and is currently playing in a theater near you.
