Arbor Day came early to residents in Santa Clarita as people came out to Central Park to browse the selections of free trees and other services to improve their homes as well as the life of future generations. The Weekend festivities commenced Saturday April 16th at 10 A.M and was a combination of a Home and Garden Show, Emergency Expo and more.
There was also a Home and Garden Show at the festival for people to view the various gardening techniques and even take home plants of their own.
Sewing Demos intrigued audiences in an older art that is still practiced today.
Various sewing machines were on display to showcase the oldest sewing machines that started it all.
The Quilting Club brought finished works to showcase just what can be made with small patches.
A competition to design the most creative trashcan found some of these ones at the festival.
Products like homemade Goat milk soap presented people with a new organic option.
Some plants like these cactuses were sold for as little as 8 dollars.
Other trees were free of charge to anyone who wanted one.
And shrubs from 3′ to 16′ were also given away at the festival.
There was a limit of one shrub per person.
The color of the various plants brought beauty to Central Park in Santa Clarita.
Mini cactus’ here were also free of charge, one plant per person.
Not only were plants given away but children could also take home bags of live lady bugs to farther color their gardens if the chose.
The Placerita Canyon Nature Center brought live creatures like this snake to showcase the creatures that one can find at the preserve.
A fitness center was offering 10 free sessions to encourage people to get moving and stay healthy.
Advance Care Animal Hospital brought kittens to the festival for crowds to see and adopt if they wanted.
Fresh honey from the tasting rooms in Filmore was available to purchase.
Various booths like Solar City were trying to entice crowds to better the environment with Solar options.
A furniture store had various couches, tables and bedroom furniture for people to purchase and take home.
And of course, a giant bounce slide enticed kids to play on while parents browsed through the park.
