“Alien: Romulus” REVIEW

Fede Alvarez‘ latest Alien film is bringing fans old and young back to the movies this weekend as it quickly dethrones Deadpool with 41.5 million at the box office.

The film which is allegedly a prequel follows a group of scientists as they are exploring space. The find a mysterious space ship as they voyage inside. The question is what will they find and more importantly will they be able to leave in one piece.

This new spinoff follows a new cast including Civil War‘s Cailee Spaeny, who definitely takes the place of Sigourney Weaver from the original. She takes on this new role with big eyes and new ideas, though there are slight nods to the original. Additionally, MorbiusArchie Renaux and Dora’s Isabela Merced round out the cast as a group of space scavengers discover something that they may not want to look twice into.

At 2 hour run time, Alien: Romulus will have audiences on the edge of their seats without a dull moment on screen. With subtle nods to all of the original franchise, it will have true fans looking for those memorable easter eggs while marveling at the new and unique story that Alvarez has created.

The film came out in theaters August 16 and is currently playing in one near you
