“Air” Movie REVIEW

It’s the story about how the iconic shoe of the 90’s made for now the greatest athlete in Basketball history.

Air, directed and starring Ben Afflict follows the journey of shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro (Matt Damon) as he seeks to find the greatest, even before the world would know just how great he is: Michael Jordan. We see in this biopic the struggle as for unique businessmen do something that no one has ever done all in an attempt to save their struggling business, Nike. Teamed with Jason Bateman and Chris Messina, Damon and Affleck provide the right amount of drive with a little comedy to lighten the seriousness. All in all, it made the film all that more intriguing even knowing what was ultimately going to happen.

Additionally, Afflict in his directorial point of view, showcased Jordan’s mom, Deloris as actress Viola Davis, exceptionally brought the will and determination of a mother wanting to do everything possible to help her son get all he was entitled to. Ultimately an excellent casting choice by far as she showcased the same emotion as previous roles including her 2011 role in The Help. She definitely has a unique style that makes all know that she will not back down no matter what, especially in the name of family.

Air came out in theaters April 7 and is a movie for all, especially those who know and love Michael Jordan and the shoe that made him who he is. There’s a lot of nostalgia, that those that grew up or lived in the 90’s will instantly remember and love. The film is currently playing in a theater near you.
