“Afraid” REVIEW

“AIA is here to help. Or is she?”

When a family decides to put an “Alexa” type devise in their house, at first there is no harm. Then some wierd things start happening especially when the family pulls away. AIA isn’t happy and when she’s not happy, things will change.

Blumhouse’s latest suspense thriller paints a picture of the danger of Artificial intelligence in a who new way. Starring The Good Doctor’s John Cho and Fantastic Beast‘s Katherine Waterston who step into the horror genre in such a powerful way. They make you really sense that fear in a whole knew way. Additionally the film also stars Cowboys and AliensKeith Carradine as well as breakout star Issac Bae in his first feature length film and that kid definately has some good chops when it comes to acting. It’ll be interesting to see just who snatches this kid up next.

All in All, at just under an hour and a half run time, Afraid will truly having you second guessing the use of Artificial Intelligence. Though it’s not as frightening as some of Blumhouse’s other films, it does resemble that of their latest AI based film, Megan. It’s Megan meets Disney’s Smart House in a new and unique way. Less of the house being alive and more of something being alive in the house, it will have you on the edge of your seats and laughing a few memorable moments.

Afraid came out in theaters August 30th and is playing in one near you. See it to truly understand and appreciate the seductive nature of AI.
