The 2011 game is getting its theatrical debut in “A Minecraft Movie”. The film follows “Steve” a little boy with a heart’s craving for the minds. Unfortunately, he has to wait till he is old enough to venture inside. Once he does, he finds a new world, aka, the Overworld, where his imagination can run wild as he builds whatever he can imagine. The only problem is the future of the “Overworld” will be challenged as piggies from the “Netherworld” soon find their way in as they seek to destroy all things beautiful. However Steve is not alone as his own team of misfits find their way to the “Overworld”. The question is will it be enough to stop the piggies from their destruction?
The carefully “crafted” film stars Jack Black as “Steve as well as “Fast X” Jason Mamoa as Garrrett, Sebastian Hanson as Henry, Emma Myers as Natalie, The Color Purple’s Danielle Brooks and America Pie’s Jennifer Coolridge, all of whom make the story that much of a roller coaster ride you have to see.
All in all, the film brings all aspects of the game to life as well as giving a little School of Rock touch with the surprise music sung by Black and the cast. It’s certainly a film for the whole family with its PG rating. It’ll have fans of the gaming genre intrigued to see their favorite characters come life as well as introducing all to the World of Minecraft.
At an hour 41-minute runtime, A Minecraft Movie came out in theaters April 4th and is currently playing in one near you.
